Sometimes white people go too far in trying to relate with Black people. A debate started on Twitter this weekend over how exactly we define “digital blackface.” This morning's breakfast: two scrambled eggs with cheese and Everything But the Bagel seasoning, a whole avocado, and two slices of bacon on a bed of arugula. The toast is sliced French bread. Everything on this plate is from @traderjoes . We are almost at the end, y’all. This morning's breakfast bowl: a pile of arugula, a whole Haas avocado, 1/2 a cup of black beans, queso cotija, and two runny eggs. What did you eat for breakfast this morning? In my latest for @theGrio, I explain why everything is always about race. Man, the prophecy was right there! The latest issue of my newsletter, off the record, is out now, and it discusses the frustrating experience of talking about race with white people who would rather talk over Black people than listen.

A little message to the fools who try to age and fat shame me

I recorded a little message for the men who get mad at me online and try to insult me by calling me “old” or “fat.” Pro tip: Those don’t work as insults against me. I’m proud of my age, and I know that I am beautiful. Try to come up with something better.

Generation X created the culture. When you look back at all facets of our culture including fashion, music, movies, television and the like, a great deal of it came from the minds of Generation X or was pushed to the forefront by our generation during our youth.

Storytelling is a revolutionary act

Standard

Storytelling is revolutionary act because in the face of propaganda campaigns that label the truth as dangerous, those of us who continue speaking out and telling the stories of what actually happened do so at our own risk.
