Hello, Friday

Standard

I set an intention today to get more done today than I did yesterday. That includes the number of words I write. The word count to be beat is 1955.

Let’s get it.

I think I have figured out my perfect Starbucks drink. It’s 4 shots of espresso with vanilla sweet cream. It’s so simple, yet so delicious and satisfying.

In case you missed it when I posted it earlier, I had a piece go live on theGrio today.

Here is a list of white people I was extremely disappointed to find out were (undercover) racists” discussed my thoughts on Ben Stein, Stella Parton, and “Dilbert” artist Scott Adams being racist.

My cousin Sharmayne and I have been close our (really her) entire lives. We are more like sisters than cousins. She knows where all the bodies are buried, and she may or may not have helped me put some of them in the ground.

My heart bursts with love because I am also very close to her oldest daughter, who I affectionately call “Peanut.”

Peanut has my whole heart in the same way Lil Bite β€” the oldest daughter of my other first cousin, Paulette β€” does. I have watched both of them grow up and become grown ass women, building lives for themselves and being out there living it.

I thought of this because I just got off a video call with Peanut.

Those are my babies.

The thing about writing β€” at least for me β€” is sometimes I have to build up to it. I think a lot about what I want to say. I let it swirl around in my mind a bit, and when I feel like I have found the angle or the direction I want to go in, I can then sit down type it all out.

It’s a thing and a process, and there are times when it takes longer than others.

I logged on to GTA last night for the first time in more than two weeks. I stayed on for all of 15 minutes. All I did was sell my dope and reset my warehouse workers.

I guess much like everything else, I really have to be in the mood for it.

Anyway, here is a picture of me and Franklin sitting in our office smoking weed.

My character has braids like me. I made them the same color as mine. She always has glasses on, and she dresses just like me. I plan to be all tatted up like she is one day.

I have said it before, and I will say it again: GTA Online is just like violent Barbies for me.

Even if I don’t do anything other than sell my dope, I’m going to change my character’s outfit every time I log on.

This week’s episode of BMF was off the hook. Next week is the season finale, and from the preview it looks like it’s going to be packed full of drama.

I like the way Starz stacks the shows so that just as one is ending, another one is beginning, and we get to be satisfied throughout most of the year.

    Hi Monique,
    I enjoy your writing!
Can you please give a newbie some tips on how/where to put my β€˜stuff’, so I can write more…that people can actually read, I mean.
PS, glad to have found a fellow lover of the Oxford comma.
    Best
    Dr V
